Before selecting a rostering method, it's important to understand the different roles available in SPIRE Up and the permissions associated with each role. Understanding who will be responsible for implementation, reporting, and instruction can help districts determine the rostering method that best fits their needs.

Rostering Considerations
District Technical Administrator (DTA)
District Technical Administrators oversee SPIRE Up at the district level.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Manage district settings
- Manage schools within the district
- Create and manage School Administrators
- Create and manage Teachers
- Create and manage Students
- Access district-level reporting and analytics
- View district performance data
Best Fit For:
- District technology teams
- Curriculum leadership
- Implementation coordinators
- District administrators
District Technical Administrators are administrative users and do not receive the teacher dashboard, class insights, skill tracker, or classroom management tools available to Teachers.
School Administrator
School Administrators oversee implementation and reporting at an individual school.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Manage teacher accounts
- Manage student accounts
- Create and manage classes
- Add Co-Teachers to classes
- View school-wide performance data
- Run reports across all classes in the school
Best Fit For:
- Principals
- Assistant Principals
- Literacy Coordinators
- Instructional Coaches
School Administrators can view data across the school but do not receive the teacher-facing dashboard experience used for daily instruction. Teachers have access to dedicated classroom tools that are not available through the School Administrator role.
If the people implementing SPIRE Up will also be teaching students, role assignments should be considered carefully before selecting a rostering method.

Teachers are the primary instructional users of SPIRE Up.
