User Roles in Your SIS
Important Information for ClassLink/Clever Districts 

District Technical Administrator 

District Technical Administrators provide district-level oversight and management of SPIRE Up. This role is typically assigned to district technology staff, curriculum leaders, or implementation coordinators who need visibility across the district. 

District Technical Adminstrators can:

• Manage district settings
• Manage schools and users
• Access district-wide reporting
• Monitor implementation across multiple schools

School Administrator 

School Administrators provide school-level oversight and management of SPIRE Up. This role is commonly assigned to principals, instructional coaches, literacy specialists, or other school leaders who support implementation and monitor progress.

School Administrators can:

• Create and manage classes
• Manage student placement
• Administer assessments
• Access instructional content
• View school-level reports and performance data

Teacher

Teachers are the primary instructional users of SPIRE Up. In addition to creating classes, managing students, and administering assessments, Teachers receive access to classroom-specific dashboards and instructional tools that are not available through the School Administrator role. 

Consider whether your implementation team will need access to:

• The Teacher Dashboard
• My Classes
• Class Analysis
• Classroom-specific instructional insights
• Teacher-focused workflows and tools

How Are These Users Identified in Your SIS?

If your district plans to use automated rostering through Clever or ClassLink, understanding how users are identified within your SIS and rostering platform may help determine which rostering method is the best fit for your implementation.

• Which users need School Administrator access
• Which users need Teacher access
• How those users are currently identified in your SIS, Clever, or ClassLink
