Using SPIRE STAR for Instruction and Assessment

SPIRE STAR is an online platform that complements the print materials in the SPIRE 4th Edition program. This guide will help you navigate SPIRE STAR and use its features for instruction and assessment.

Accessing SPIRE STAR:

Log in to your teacher account here. Once you have assigned a lesson, you can access the lesson content and materials through the Activity and Pack icons on the dashboard. More details can be found here.


Using SPIRE STAR for Instruction

SPIRE STAR allows you to deliver structured, 10-step lessons divided into scenes, which correspond to the steps in the SPIRE lesson plan. The 10 steps include Phonogram Cards, Phonological Awareness, Word Building, Decoding and Sentence Reading, Pre-Reading, Reading, Sound Dictation, Pre-Spelling, Spelling, and Sentence Dictation. Using SPIRE STAR for Assessment

SPIRE STAR offers assessments such as the Placement Test, Concept Mastery Fluency Drills, Concept Assessments, and Pre-/Post-Tests. You can assign assessments through the library, follow on-screen instructions, and record student responses on your device. SPIRE STAR automatically scores assessments and displays results in the Reports tab. More details can be found here.


Digital Components and Resources

SPIRE STAR provides access to digital components and resources, including Phonograms and Word Cards, Keywords and Pictures, a Teacher Pack, and a Class Pack.
