Using Manual Rostering with SPIRE Up
SPIRE Up supports manual rostering for districts that prefer to manage users and classes without an automated integration. This option provides full control over timing, data, and instructional setup.
This article outlines what to expect when using manual rostering with SPIRE Up.
Getting Started with Manual Rostering
Manual rostering is managed directly by your district administrators.
To begin, EPS will:
- Create requested district administrator accounts
- Provide access to SPIRE Up for initial setup
All additional users and classes are managed by the district.
User Data & Account Management
With manual rostering, districts control how and when users are added to SPIRE Up.
What Districts Manage
District administrators are responsible for:
- Uploading student accounts using CSV files
- Managing teacher accounts
- Managing School Administrators
- Maintaining user data over time
Because accounts are added intentionally, manual rostering is often a good fit for districts implementing SPIRE Up with a specific group of students.
What Happens After Accounts Are Created
Once administrator access is established:
- Student accounts are uploaded by the district
- Classes are not automatically created
- Students are not automatically placed into classes
District administrators are responsible for:
- Creating classes
- Assigning courses
- Rostering students after placement testing
This process allows districts to group students based on instructional needs and assessment results.
Access for Teachers & Students
Districts share access information with teachers and students.
This may include:
- Login instructions
- Access tokens or credentials
- Internal communication based on district processes
EPS does not distribute access credentials when using manual rostering.
