Coach Digital Compass Import Parents Help
This guide is for setting up and importing Import Parent .CSV files.
This article does not apply to Clever or ClassLink rostered districts/schools
You can add each parent account manually, but importing a parent list can save time.
Use the main drop-down menu at the top right and select Parents to reach the Manage Parents page.

At the bottom of the page, select the Import Parent .CSV file button to reach the Import Parents Page.

Use the link Download Sample .CSV File to get the template for the parent import.

Input the data into the spreadsheet or paste it from a student management system. Do not rename, move, delete, or add to the column labels, or the roster import will not work. The header row (row 1) must remain the same as the sample CSV file.

The required spreadsheet fields are marked with an “(R)” to the right of their field name.
Require Fields:
Column A: Action (A/U)
"A" represents adding a new parent
"U" represents updating an existing parent
Column B: Username - This must be unique for your school.
Column C: Password: must be at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter, a number, and a symbol.
Column G: Email Address
Column H: Active/Inactive
Column I: Student Usernames - Student's usernames are separated by “|” character and at least one valid student username
Not Required Fields:
Column D: First Name
Column E: MI - Middle Initial is usually left blank.
Column F: Last Name
Save the file (keep the file in CSV format, DO NOT let Excel change the format).

Choose the saved CSV file and click the “Upload” button to load it into the system.

The next screen displays a data preview, with invalid rows shown by default. An error message will appear for any invalid rows. These rows won't be imported. Select Cancel to fix your import file and try again, or click the Import button to import only the valid rows.

A summary of the import is displayed, and the import is completed.
